Online Dating Safety Awareness and Tips

Messaging Your Match

When talking to ANYONE that you don't know, it's important to look out for red flags. If you see enough red flags that can indicate someone has ill intentions.

  • Every profile on Mutual is required to be verified. Check to see if the user's profile has been verified (look for a pink badge under the member's profile name). If it is not verified, report them immediately.
  • Take the time to review each profile. Look at their age, location, photos, and bio prompts. Look for things that don't add up or don't abide by the Community Standards.
  • If someone sends you a message that concerns you, flag it! Do this by long pressing the message and selecting Flag Message. You will be asked if you want to send a copy of this message to a moderator. Select Flag Message again to confirm.
  • Look out for people asking about your personal information. Examples include:
    • Your last name
    • Your mother's maiden name
    • Your first pet's name
    • Where you live
    • Your date of birth
    • ANY banking information
  • If anyone asks you for money, gift cards, or any monetary favor report them immediately.
  • If someone is pushing you to get off the app onto a different platform, use caution. A common reason people do this is to hide bad behavior from our moderators.
