Can I Change My Location?
Your location is a key component of how Mutual functions, so much so that you won't be able to view anyone's profile without it! In order to prevent malicious actors from using a false location, we do not allow you to manually change your location on your account. Mutual will automatically re-pull your location every time you open the app. The only exception is if you have a premium membership. In that case you can use the special Ward Hop feature to change your location manually.
What If My Location Isn't Updating?
If your location isn't updating correctly, please first ensure that location services are enabled on your device and that Mutual is allowed to use your location with the "while using the app" option selected. Once you've confirmed that, you can re-pull your GPS coordinates within the app by navigating to My Profile>Personal Info and tapping Update next to your location. This should update your location. If your location remains the same or you receive an error message then please contact us at support@mutual.app, and we will investigate further!
What If I Don't Want To Show My Location?
We completely understand your concerns with showing your location. There's a lot of crazies out there! First, we'd like to assure you that we do everything in our power to remove bad actors from our platform. The safety of our members is our top priority. We also do our best to protect your privacy, hiding your last name, date of birth, and other sensitive information from public view. We also only share your general area. If you still feel uncomfortable about sharing this information, then we recommend pausing your account when you out and about or are traveling. While paused, your profile will be temporarily hidden, so your location won't be displayed. This will give you more control over what location someone will see on your profile. To pause, go to Settings>Pause Account. You can unpause at any time.
